Clément Lefebvre - Friday 17/11/23 -20h30

A warm welcome for Clément Lefebvre

Clément Lefebvre Festival L'Envol Musical Gourdon Fonds Friday 27/11/2023"Clément Lefebvre opens the doors to an ever-changing musical world: in Schumann, Couperin and Rameau of course, but also in Debussy, Ravel, Haydn, Brahms, Fauré... An inspired, elegant and sensitive artist, he reveals unsuspected charms. His playing, like his smile and his gaze, sincere and fair, combines that perfect balance that touches the mind and the heart, between tenderness and will, reverie and energy. Clément Lefebvre has a noble way with words, and poetry at his fingertips." Jany Campello.

If there is a circle of poet-musicians, pianist Clément Lefebvre is the torch-bearer of his generation. His first CD, "Rameau/Couperin" (2018) on Evidence Classics, reveals him as such to the public and to the music world. It bears his unique artistic signature, earning him immediate and unanimous recognition: a 'masterstroke' crowned with a Diapason d'Or Découverte. His second CD (2021), devoted to Ravel, received the highest praise from Classica: "At last we have the Ravelian of the coming decades, and we won't let him go! exclaimed Philippe Cassard. Lose yourself in this Ravel touched by grace and emotion" advised Jean-Charles Hoffelé, while Alain Lompech spoke of "two CDs to hoard".

His authentic personality and poetic sense were particularly noted at the Concours International Long-Thibaud-Crespin 2019, of which he is a laureate. Previously, he had been distinguished across the Channel, winning 1st Prize and the Audience Prize at the James Mottram International Piano Competition in Manchester in 2016. This double accolade comes on the back of a musical journey that began in his early youth in the north of France, then in Paris when he was just ten, with Billy Eldi, who taught him everything that constitutes the foundations of the musical art. He then went on to Lille, where he studied with Marc Lys and Jean-Michel Dayez, then at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire in the class of Hortense Cartier-Bresson, and finally at the Paris Conservatoire: a pupil of Roger Muraro and Isabelle Dubuis, he also received advice from Claire Désert, Alain Planès and Pierre-Laurent Aimard. With the high artistic standards he developed with these masters, he owes Roger Muraro in particular for his ability to assert his musical thinking in terms of rigour, depth and expressive imagination, whether through attention to the clarity of musical discourse or the creation of a world of sound. Stone by stone, his artistic career is taking shape and taking solid form The Banque Populaire Foundation, the Safran Foundation and the Mécénat Société Générale, the prestigious institutions of which he is a prizewinner, have all shown their confidence and support.
