François Chaplin

Master class: François Chaplin

François ChaplinFrançois Chaplin, artistic director of the Pontlevoy Festival, will be giving a Master Class on Sunday July 30 at 10:30 am.

A great master, he has the art of suggesting with notes what only a poet can suggest with words. “In his quest for that poetry which is the unalterable charm of many of yesterday's Chopinians, such as Cortot, Friedman, Kempff, Novaes and Magaloff, for example, Chaplin succeeds in being sensitive and quivering, lyrical and carried away, without preciosity, without nervousness, without brutality.” Alain Lompech, Diapason - September 2007.

François Chaplin trained with Bulgarian pianist Ventsislav Yankoff at the CNSM de Paris, as well as in the accompaniment and chamber music class with Jacqueline Robin, and obtained his First Prizes in piano (1st nominated in 1987) and chamber music. He won the Mozart and Robert Casadesus Prizes at the 1989 Cleveland International Competition.
