The Foundress : Evelyne Gourdon

Evelyne Gourdon, fondatrice Gourdon FondsIn 2020, Evelyne Gourdon set up an endowment fund (governed by article 140 of French law no. 2008-776 of 4 August 2008 on the modernisation of the economy, decree no. 2009-158 of 11 February 2009 and subsequent texts) to encourage, support, perpetuate, promote and finance any cultural or artistic initiative aimed at encouraging promising young French or foreign musicians, particularly pianists - for whom poetry is not an empty word - who are always striving for excellence.

A trained musician and disciple of Thierry de Brunhoff and Monique Deschaussées, themselves disciples of Alfred Cortot and Edwin Fischer, Evelyne Gourdon has met and helped many talented young musicians:

  • Firstly, by organising the "Soirées Musicales de Villennes-sur-Seine" concerts for more 30 years as volunteer President of the Comité de la Culture de Villennes.
  • Then, on a more personal level, always free of charge, by helping them to work, taking charge of their studies (Ecole Normale de Musique), putting them up or providing them with a piano so that they could work - the latter often coming from afar to follow the famous "French school" without always having the financial means to do so.

It was against this backdrop that Evelyne Gourdon decided to set up the "Demain Virtuoses - Gourdon Fonds" endowment fund, with the aim of perpetuating these initiatives and providing long-term support.
